Set in one acre of private grounds, the House in the Clouds is one of England’s most famous follies. It was originally built in 1923 to disguise a water tank. It has heritage and history galore, along with lovely anecdotes such as this: “In 1943 while firing at a low flying V1 flying bomb, an English Bofors shell passed through the south-east corner of the tank causing extensive damage. At the time the two Miss Humphreys were in occupation and asleep below. Neither lady woke up.”
