The West Usk Lighthouse, Newport | Wales

Located at the end of a long bumpy track where the severn and Usk estuaries converge – with a view across the Bristol Channel – this lighthouse-turned-B&B was built in 1821 and designed by Scottish architect James Walker. Named by Cosmopolitan magazine as ‘one of the most romantic places in Britain’, the unique building has a unusual feature for Dr Who fans: there’s a Tardis on the roof…
